In order to further promote the collaboration project about mechanization of corn production and corn variety breeding between MARDI and HAAFS, experts from corn research centre of Institute of Cereal and Oil Crops held an online meeting with experts from MARDI.

After a short but warm introduction of all the participants, Dr. Badril recapped the last meeting to show the basic information of corn production in Malaysia and the objectives of the collaboration project.

Next, Dr. Rohazrin gave a presentation on current state of grain corn industry and mechanization of grain corn production. He indicated that in Malaysia, the rapid development of livestock sector generated the growing of local grain corn market, however almost 100% of grain corn was imported. To increase productivity,save cost,and overcome weather and soil limitations, he hoped to get suggestions on mechanization of grain corn production from HAAFS’ peers.

At the last stage of the meeting, Dr. Guo showed the project plan of the corn breeding part. Experts from both sides discussed about the details of the collaboration proposal and the next online meeting was scheduled for April 29.
