To promote the practical cooperation in the field of oil sunflower with Romania National Agricultural Research and Development Institute Fundulea, an online academic exchange meeting was held on May 31st, 2022. The meeting was presided over by ZHANG Meishen, the director of International Cooperation Divsion of HAAFS. Oil sunflower expert teams from both sides attended the meeting.

At the beginning of the meeting, experts from both sides made academic reports respectively, introducing the domestic production status and advantages of development of oil sunflower, focusing on the research progress, the expected research content of bilateral cooperation and R&D team building. Whereafter, experts had an in-depth discussion on academic issues of common concern, such as breeding of high oil content and disease resistant varieties, and utilization technology of wild resources. Dr. Maria from National Agricultural Research and Development Institute Fundulea recognized and endorsed this form of academic exchange and expressed her willingness to actively promote the cooperation.

The two sides agreed to launch the identification of varieties and resources this year, establish a quarterly online academic exchange mechanism during the epidemic, and draft a research plan for the bilateral cooperation on oil sunflower. This meeting marked the beginning of the practical cooperation of HAAFS and Romania National Agricultural Research and Development Institute Fundulea, and achieved the expected results.
