Observation on green, high-quality and efficient apple production technology demonstration base in Taihang Mountain area

Recently, HAAFS invited experts from the Provincial Agricultural Technology Promotion Station and Institute of Cash Crops to conduct on-site observation on the "Taihang Mountain Apple Green, High Quality, and Efficient Production Technology Demonstration Base" project undertaken by Institute of Shijiazhuang Fruit Research.

Researcher YANG Sumiao from Institute of Shijiazhuang Fruit Research reported on the construction and implementation effects of the project. The project has established a 2500 acre demonstration base for green, high-quality, and efficient apple production technology in the Taihang Mountains area, demonstrating self-cultivated new varieties such as 'Jihong', 'Jiyan', and 'Shifu Short Branch', as well as multiple achievements such as the lightweight, efficient, and mechanized cultivation mode, the high-efficiency utilization of water and fertilizer, and the green comprehensive prevention and control of pests and diseases. The expert group consulted relevant production management and on-site testing of the implementation effect of the demonstration base. The single fruit’s weight was 245g, the yield per mu was 2580 kg, the soluble solid content was 15.2%, compared with saving 22.8% on medicine, 32.5% on irrigation, and 31.0% on labor. This can save 180 yuan per mu on expenses, and increase income by 750 yuan per mu. Finally, the expert group unanimously agreed that the implementation of the base construction has achieved significant results, with timely technical training and guidance, producing smooth fruit surfaces and bright colors of the fruits, with crisp flesh, sweet and sour taste, and rich flavor.
