Institute of Millet Crops (IMC)was established in 1985. There are 53 staff members in IMC, among them 27 person have senior professional titles, 1 expert is high-end talent of Hebei Province, 4 experts enjoying special allowances allotted by the State Council and the provincel. The Institute is mainly engaged in research of resource innovation, molecular genetics, breeding, disease and pest control, cultivation and physiology on foxtail millet, sorghum, broomcorn and other minor crops. Postpartum processing, industrial economy and other aspects of the grain whole industrial chain are also included in the research. The researches about pest and disease control of foxtail millet, aphid resistant sorghum, millet beneficial genes exploration are at the international advanced level. Since IMC’s establishment, the Institute has won 71 provincial-level and above achievement awards, including 4 national level awards, 1 provincial governor's special award, 6 the first prizes of provincial and ministerial level; Published over 1500 academic papers and authored 20 books; Obtained 34 national invention patents; Cultivate 49 new varieties of foxtail millet and 12 new varieties of sorghum.
