Institute of Changli Fruit Research, established in 1937, is located in Changli County of Hebei Province. It mainly carries out research and demonstration on resource innovation, genetic breeding and biotechnology, cultivation physiology and plant protection of fruit trees, especially of apple, pear, grape, peach, cherry, chestnut, walnut and other species. Moreover, the Institute aims at providing technical support and services for the development of fruit tree industry in the province. The Institute undertakes about 40 scientific research projects all year round. It has obtained more than 200 scientific achievements at all levels, and over 50 new varieties of fruit trees were selected and bred. State-approved chestnut variety "Yanshan Zaofeng" was selected as one of the country's 100 major agricultural scientific and technological achievements. The Chestnut Expert Service Team has been identified by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security as a model mission for expert service at the grassroots level in 2023. "Huangjin Mi" table grape and "Linglong Cui" cherry were selected as one of the 1000 outstanding agricultural scientific and technological achievements in China.
