The Institute of Shijiazhuang Fruit Research is founded in 1948 and committed to the innovation of fruit tree germplasm resources, breeding of new variety, research on the green and efficient fruit tree cultivation technology, demonstration and promotion of new varieties and technologies. The Institute has a total of 93 staffs, including 80 scientific researchers, 50 with senior professional titles, 3 experts enjoying special government allowances from the State Council, and 3 experts with provincial outstanding contributions. It has undertaken more than 500 scientific and technological projects, and has achieved over 100 patents, 50 authorized technical regulations, published more than 160 books and over 70 awards at national, provincial and ministerial levels. The authorized new varieties of fruit trees such as”Huangguan” pear, “Jihong” apple, “Meibao” peach, and “Zilongzhu” grape are well-known nationwide. The leading researches are about self-fruitfulness of pear, disease resistance of grape, cracking resistance of jujube, and apple DNA molecular breeding.
