Institute of Cash Crops is the only provincial-level agricultural research unit mainly focus on basic and applied research on germplasm resources innovation, genetic breeding and facility cultivation of vegetables, medicinal herbs and edible fungi. The Institute has 66 staffs, 18 experts with senior professional titles, 17 doctors and 23 masters. There are 4 integrated experimental stations of National Modern Agricultural Industry Technology system, 1 Scientific Observatory and Experimental Station of Vegetable Science (North China) of Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, and 2 provincial technology innovation centers. In the past 3 years, the Institute has undertaken over 100 research projects, received 7 awards at the provincial and ministerial levels. Additionally, 27 varieties bred by the Institute have been registered, 22 national invention patents, 20 utility model patents and 22 national and local standards were obtained.
