From October 19th to 24th, the 2025 International Assembly Weed Science Conference (IACWSC2025) was grandly held in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province, organizing by the Institute of Plant Protection of Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, and Nanjing Agricultural University. The conference is jointly organized by the 9th International Weed Science Conference, the 29th Asia Pacific Weed Science Conference and the 17th China Weed Science Conference, with the theme of "New technologies leading the progress of weed science". It has attracted over 600 experts and scholars from 42 countries and regions including China, the United States, the United Kingdom, Japan, South Korea, India, and the Philippines. Five scientists from the Institute of Cereal and Oil Crops of HAAFS attended the conference.

The conference conducted in-depth exchanges in key areas such as weed biology and ecology, molecular mechanisms, intelligent identification, resistance management, green prevention and control through various forms such as invited reports, round table dialogues and poster displays. Participants shared successful experiences of various countries and explored future research directions.

Scientist LIU Xiaomin and GUO Bingbo from HAAFS respectively presented academic reports titled "Unraveling the molecular basis of Descurainia Sophia's resistance to tribenuron methyl and florarum through integrated omics approaches" and "Design, synthesis, and biological activity of novel HPPD inhibitors containing cinnamic acid", showcasing the latest research progress in the formation mechanism of herbicide resistance in weeds and the development of new herbicide molecules in the Institute of Cereal and Oil Crops. Scientists from HAAFS carefully listened to the reports on weed genomics, herbicide resistance mechanisms and management, and comprehensive weed control, and gained a deep understanding of the latest research trends and development directions in the field of weed science.
