To thoroughly study and implement the important instructions on ensuring food security, and further leverage the important role of agricultural science and technology in supporting the continuous success of summer grain harvests, members of the leadership team of the Academy conducted a field inspection of summer crop production at the Dishang Experimental Station and Shenzhou Experimental Station from June 1st to 3rd, 2026. The Academy leaders observed the demonstration of wheat seedling lines, excellent germplasm, and green production technology models on site, and gained a detailed understanding of key aspects such as experimental design, data collection, achievement transformation, promotion and application. They also had in-depth discussions with front line scientific researchers on production technology bottlenecks and industrial development pain points, and put forward specific requirements for the next step of work.
Since the beginning of this year, the wheat research team has continuously invested in fields such as biotechnology, germplasm resource innovation, new variety breeding, green cultivation, and grass pest control, achieving a series of results that are both innovative and of practical value. Ten new wheat varieties, including Jimai 358, Jimai 362, Jimai U87, Hengmai Z1033, and Hengmai 164435, have been approved at the national and provincial levels. The Jimai and Hengmai series of varieties have been promoted in Hebei Province, covering nearly 8 million mu of land, effectively addressing the long-standing industry pain points of "high yield but not high quality, and high quality but not wide adaptability," and achieving a synergistic improvement in yield and quality. From "genes" to "field", from "high yield and high quality" to "green and safe", our wheat discipline has formed a full-chain technological innovation system covering germplasm creation, variety breeding, efficient cultivation, and pest and disease control. This system will continue to contribute to ensuring food security and promoting high-quality agricultural development.
